My Healthy Snacks for the Office or Road

My Healthy Snacks for the Office or Road

Look, I am the first one to tell you that during the day I love a little snack or three. My aim this year is to keep my snacking healthy and in line with my fitness regime.

My healthy office/car/day snacks this year are:

- I love to always carry around a bag of O’Granola in my glove compartment of my car so that when I am on the road I can lean over and grab a handful. I really feels like it overrides that gnawing hunger feeling faster than anything else I munch on.

- A nice big juicy apple (obviously because I love apples!)

- Whole wheat crackers with a bit of marmalade on them

- Nuts (any kind, I personally like almonds for the road)

Let me know if you have any other healthy suggestions that tackle your little hunger pangs during meals? I would love to hear them.

The Super 7 – Foods that Crush It!

The Super 7 – Foods that Crush It!

Hey! I was reading an article of the 7 power foods, they are:

- Avo

- Beans

- Blueberries

- Cruciferous Veg (broccoli, Brussel sprouts, cauliflower that vibe)

- Spinach

- Salmon

- Walnuts

All delicious, and can all be easily bought in Ireland FRESH!

“What makes them super? Few calories, little sugar or salt plus lots of soluble fiber, nutrients and health-boosting phytochemicals, and not a drop of guilt should you overindulge!” – They might as well be describing Paddy’s O’Granola.

Not so?

As we have no added salt, sugar and you can indulge without a drop of guilt because it is PACKED with fibre!

I would like to add, an additional 3 Super foods and these are:

- Oats (for a slow release of energy)

- Cranberries (overall amazing)

- Apples (I am addicted, love them!)

(Go here to see the original article on the Super 7 Food)

Have a fantastic and healthy day!

One Flew Over the Crowe’s Nest

One Flew Over the Crowe’s Nest

Just before Christmas I ordered a very big bird from a friend of mine, TJ Crowe, who owns an artisan meats farm down in Tipperary, Crowe’s Farm. Their slogan, from farm to fork. Ha, brilliant.

A beautiful big organic free-range turkey ‘landed’ at my house from their farm in time for Christmas day, and hours later was on our forks.

The bird came out of the oven, juicy, soft and cooked to absolute perfection, we accompanied it with roasted potatoes and bread sauce, amazing!

The turkey was literally the gift that kept on giving, because we were so spoilt to have turkey sandwiches the next day with cranberry sauce and homemade brown bread … and the next … and the next.

Exactly three days later we had ‘gobbled’ it all up!

This is me, receiving the turkey and excited to get it ready for the Christmas day festivities. Yeehaw!

Thanks TJ! An amazing bird fit for an amazing Christmas!

Kicking Off the New Year in Healthy Style

Kicking Off the New Year in Healthy Style

Happy New Year to you all, and I hope you have all had a wonderful Christmas time. Judging from the bathroom scales we really did too!

Like many of you, I have made some New Years resolutions. Some I know I will keep, and some … well, you know.

Two of these resolutions I am determined to keep alight this year are to eat even healthier than last year, and shake up my exercise regime to include high intense boxing. Exciting!

My New Year saying this year is, ‘even when you think you have hit empty, there is always, ALWAYS, 30% left’.

Disclaimer: you should probably not use my mantra when your petrol tank is beeping at you. ;)

I hope you have a wonderful granola filled year, and hope to catch you all at the many exciting events I am attending this year, I will keep you posted!
